The Ariat Sydney International Three Day Event (Sydney 3DE) is excited to announce the Sydney 3DE Grassroots Championship presented by Ceva.
In this new concept one combination at each level from 60cm to 1 star will be named the Sydney 3DE Grassroots Champion.
To be eligible the riders must never have completed an eventing competition at 2* or above.
The winning combination will have the lowest finishing score, across all divisions at any one level.
There will also be a teams competition. Riders can nominate a team of four Grassroots riders from any national level class (60cm to 1 star). The team with the lowest finishing score (with the best three scores to count) will be named the Sydney 3DE Grassroots Teams Champions.
The Ariat Sydney 3DE would like to thank Ceva for their support of this exciting new championship.
“Ceva Animal Health is thrilled to be supporting the Grassroots Championships for 2022,” said Katherine Simpson, Equine Brand Manager, Ceva Australia. “We recognise and value the contribution all the riders make to the sport of eventing in Australia, the care and diligence these riders pay to their horses is unwavering and we are proud to be supporting them in maintaining the health and welfare of their horses.”
Ariat Sydney 3DE Event Director, David Irwin is thrilled to acknowledge the national level riders.
“The Grassroots riders are the heart and soul of eventing in this country. It is where you find people that have a passion for the sport that often defies all of life’s challenges and they turn up rain, hail and shine to take part. I am so pleased that Sydney 3DE and Ceva have partnered to deliver the Grassroots Championship.
Event coordinator and Olympic medallist Shane Rose is also enthusiastic about the concept.
“It’s great”, said Mr. Rose, “Sydney is one of the only three day events that incorporates riders from all levels. We love that everyone can take part at a major event. This Championship gives the amateur riders an even better chance to shine and makes the event more special for them.”
