The Sydney 3 Day Event (Sydney 3DE) has run the cross-country phase of the competition today at Sydney International Equestrian Centre (SIEC) and you couldn’t have asked for a much better day. It was a little warm, but a nice light breeze and finishing early afternoon minimised any impacts from the heat.
In the CCI4* Andrew Barnett and ‘Go Tosca’ have solidified their lead, just picking up 3.6 time faults – taking their overall score to 28.9. Kenya Wilson and Sandros Salute MW made a big leap up the board to sit in second after a great cross-country phase and not adding to their Dressage score.
In the CCI3* Jess Somerfield and Finch Farm Carpentaria have taken the lead after going clear and under time in the cross country phase. Olivia Barton and APH Sodoku have also jumped up to sit in second after also going clear and under time. Andrew Barnett and Oscar Park Deluge had a super cross-country phase to bring them up to third spot.
Christine Bates and Bloomfield Findon, Oliver Barrett and Sandhills Briar and Sam Lyle and Revelwood Stedintine have all held onto their placings from yesterday in the CSI2* after non of these combinations added any penalties to their Dressage score.
It is pretty tight at the top of the leaderboards for these international competitions so it is all going to come down to the jumping tomorrow! We are looking forward to what promises to be an exciting finale to our 2023 event tomorrow.
